SAVING AND ORGANIZING FAMILY PHOTOS
Photo organization is about “3” Words
ORGANIZING, SORTING, AND DECLUTTERING
HOW CAN YOU RESCUE THOSE PRECIOUS IMAGES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS?
1. THE GOAL IS TO BE REASONABLE AND REALISTIC—Set realistic goals like a box a month
2. First of all, realize that you may not be able to save them all, but YOU MAKE THE RULES. YOU DETERMINE WHAT YOU WANT TO SAVE.
3. FOCUSING IS IMPORTANT in determining what to save
4. Consider all the pivotal moments that you want to tell—DEAL WITH ABSOLUTE FAVORITES.
5. Organize them in a way that MAKES SENSE TO YOU. (You may want to save the most recent photos first)
6. You may or may not want to keep the BADLY DAMAGED PHOTOS.
7. Discard duplicates and severely damaged photos—FIGHT FEELINGS OF DISPAIR BY BEING REASONABLE AND PRACTICAL
8. You do not have to perfectly organize the photos– DO WHAT YOU CAN IN A WAY THAT MAKES SENSE TO YOU.
9. Sort the severely damaged photos away from the ones that are not AND DON’T BE OVERWHELMED WITH THE PROCESS.
10. Make decisions on what to keep so that you can choose what methods will be used to save the photos for the future—SOME MAY NEED RESTORATION, DIGITIZING AND ARCHIVING ON CD OR DVD.
